ABOUT CHOCÓ

The biological corridor of the Ecuadorian Andean Chocó is one of the most important areas in the world for its great biological diversity and high level of endemism, that´s because the forests crossed by the Andes Mountains evolved in a unique way, isolated from the rest of the world and protected by a mountainous barrier. The importance of this wonderful natural ecosystem is such that it has been recognized by UNESCO as a “Biosphere Reserve”, a vital place for the conservation of the biodiversity of our planet.

Learn more about the incredible species of animals and plants that inhabit this fascinating place; a site considered one of the “hotspots” of the Earth, natural areas that together contribute 75% of the planet’s biodiversity. In this ecoregion, crossed by the line of the middle of the world, our nature reserve is found, a site with the most impressive species of flora and fauna, a symphony of nature and life that you can experience at Kapari Lodge & Spa.
