We are in the October festivities and we have to celebrate Guayaquil as it deserves. The Jewel of the Pacific has so much to offer that it delights us with its wonders every time we visit or hear from it. On this occasion it is necessary to talk about the cuisine offered by this part of the country.
The ideal place for birdwatching
The Chocó cloud forest comprises about 280 thousand hectares of northern Ecuador. This mega diverse place was declared by UNESCO as the new Biosphere Reserve, this means that it is an area of conservation and sustainable development. The Andean Chocó is home to a large number of animal and plant species of which, for the most part, are endemic, this means that they do not exist anywhere else in the world.
The varied altitude in which the Andean Chocó is located makes it an ideal place for life to thrive; such is that 30% of all the birds that Ecuador owns, inhabit this cloud forest. To get an idea of the diversity of birds we can give as an example that the American continent is the richest in the entire planet in terms of diversity of reference, however, only in Ecuador inhabit more than 1642 species, this is equivalent to twice that North America.
In the Chocó Forest that crosses the province of Pichincha, about 600 species of exotic birds live. In this region you can find birds such as toucans, parrots, tangaras and the endemic cock of the rock.
Kapari Natural Lodge is located in the middle of the Chocó forest, which is also crossed by the equinoctial line. Within our resort you can find and observe more than 400 species of birds. In our secret hiding place you can photograph various species of exotic birds that do not live anywhere else in the world.
